What’s The Boaters Pub up to now ?
Many residents have seen the article in the local press detailing how Boaters are now starting Tuesday Blues evenings as well as the Sunday Jazz sessions that they now have permission for. Rest assured that CARA is on the case and can confirm that the Environmental Health Dept at the Council is already investigating.
What do you think of the Richmond Park traffic proposals ?
The local press has been full of it. There have been residents meetings in all areas around the park. Make sure you voice your opinions by collecting a feedback form from any Kingston Library or the Guildhall. Locally, the proposals are on public display at Tudor Hall and libraries. Deadline for feedback is 28th February 2001

342 Flats now approved for the Rockware Plastics site. Possibly 191 more above the electricity sub-station in Skerne Road
CARA has formally opposed this latest development proposal on the grounds of increased traffic and the strain all this extra housing will put on North Kingston’s scarce resources such as schools, Doctors surgeries, etc. Where will it all end ?

Flood Update
We’re not aware of anyone who’s actually been flooded in the North Kingston area even though our section of the Thames has been on severe flood alert. We are fortunate that The Thames is particularly well managed in this region but we continue to monitor the situation, especially the impact of other new flood relief schemes. The London Flood Barrier was built around 20 years ago and before that time, floods we far more common around Kingston. The high waters are caused by flood water coming down from the Thames source in Oxfordshire, meeting with high tides from Essex. If an exceptionally high tide is expected, the Thames Barrier can be closed until it has passed. The keepers at Teddington Lock tell us that they have not had to resort to this so far this winter.

What should we be spending CARA funds on ?
CARA has some funds built up and we want your feedback as to what we should be spending them on.
Should we put them towards a project to “green” our parade of shops along the Richmond Road ? For example, more trees, flower baskets, some benches.
Should we focus more on further improving the Riverside area ?
Please let us know your views on the feedback slip below or by email to : cara_feedback@hotmail.com
Sensible Parking
Apart from the Christmas period, parking in Chestnut, Eastbury and Woodside Roads has been considerably easier since the introduction of CPZ. However, several residents have pointed out to committee members that, perhaps lulled into a false sense of security, drivers aren't always parking sensibly i.e. close to the car in front or behind. We just thought we'd pass the message on......
