Dates for your Diary

Sunday 23rd October 11 a.m.  Canbury Bulb Planting

Wednesday 9th November 8 p.m.  Annual General Meeting

Annual General Meeting

Cara residents are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting which will be held at the Albany Canoe and Sailing Centre on Wednesday 9th November at 8pm. New residents particularly welcome!  We hope to have Jason Debney from Thames Landscape Strategy as our guest speaker, who will tell us about their latest project ‘Bringing the Thames Back into Kingston’.

Get Involved!

In order for the committee to function there are various roles that need to be filled. If interested simply attend the AGM or Contact Penny D’Souza on 8549 5331 or email pennydsouza@blueyonder.co.uk.

Meetings are held approximately 6 times per year and it is a great opportunity to get to know people locally and understand what is happening in YOUR community.  The more committee members we have, the less there is to do!

Positions include:

  • Youth Rep (new role!)
    • The committee would like to hear the views of the under 18 population in the area.
  • Web Site manager (new role!)
  • Newsletter editor
    • Both of these roles are a great opportunity to use skills acquired at school/college to support a local group. Looks great on the CV and ideal as project work!
  • Social events Secretary (new role!)
    • Let’s use CARA to organise local events. What better way to get to get to know your neighbours.
  • Membership Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Chairman
  • Additional Newsletter distributors

Children’s Bulb Planting Event – October 23rd at 11a.m.

CARA has hundreds of bulbs to plant on the verges of Lower Ham Road between the barrier and the entrance to the Gardens.  We would like this to be a

Children’s Project

Your children can plant the bulbs, with your supervision, of course.  They can then watch them grow until they flower next year.  We hope to make this an annual event.

The ground will have been prepared in advance by the Council, but we would be very grateful if some of you could bring spades so we can enlist your help to cover the bulbs!

So please come to the old bowling pavilion (with gloves, spades and wellies!) for 11 a.m. and let’s have some fun!  There will be light refreshments.

Have your say!

Suggestions or comments from CARA members are always welcome. Please pass your feedback to  Penny D’Souza at 14 Chestnut Road  or email pennydsouza@blueyonder.co.uk.

CARA membership

A reminder to our members that renewal is due on 1st November.  Whether a member of CARA or not, everyone in the CARA area receives our newsletters and invitations to our events, can attend our public committee meetings and of course is very welcome to give us comments and feedback.  However, the more members we have, the greater is our voice, and your support is greatly appreciated.  If you are not already a member and would like to join, or to renew your membership, please complete the form below.  Membership runs annually from 1st November each year.
